Rebels not all “bad guys”

I just don’t agree that a majority (rebels) are al-Qaeda and the bad guys,

SecState Kerry said testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee yesterday. I’m not sure which Intel reports he’s looking at but I haven’t ever seen it reported that AQ groups make up the majority of the rebels in Syria. In fact the opposite has been reported multiple times that they are a minority usually on the western side of Syria.

What is true is they are well supported financially, have organization, and most importantly well armed. With weapons you can control areas much easier and take areas from the moderates.

Being more violent they are able to take areas from the moderate rebels. This plays into the fear that they will have access to weapons we supply to the moderates.. Even if only by force they end up in the wrong hands.

  1. Amazing that they don’t seem the least bit bothered admitting this, even though a few weeks ago Al Quaeda was public enemy #1. A pretty good sign that all the talk about war on terror was nothing but a pile of BS. Today’s talk of humanitarian concerns is also BS unfortunately.

I think its about the money. There are, just coincidentally, 2 pipelines being planned thru syria, one oil, one natgas, and it’s a big strategy-game to dominate the supply of natgas and crude to the EU, with the players being Russia, Iran, Iraq, Quatar, and Saudi Arabia. I wrote a post about this on my blog…

    • I disagree. The war on terror wasn’t all BS. That’s a bad title for it but there has been a concerted effort to diminish AQ.

As far as oil pipelines being the cause, I don’t buy that either. I think it’s more about influence and power across the region. Obviously each country has a different reason or influence type .. Ie Iran vs Russia, but still a reason.

This was supposed to be about chemical weapons but I already see mission creep coming.

      • Then why are we making a concerted effort to arm AQ?
Doesn’t add up for me. The official explanation is not the real explanation.

      • That’s just it we are not. I was pointing out the dangers of us sending weapons there to the moderates. AQ might get ahold of them.
